Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to have a carpet professionally cleaned?
We firmly believe that everybody in Dublin should be able to get their carpets, rugs and upholstery cleaning done to an exceptionally high standard, but only pay fair prices for that luxury. With that in mind we always watch what our competitor’s cleaning services are charging and we make sure we are fair and affordable.
To make your life even easier, we have created a simple but powerful online pricing tool. This will allow you to get an accurate price quickly and easily for cleaning carpets. You can then book online immediately after. The entire process is streamlined and quick, saving you valuable time and reducing your stress. Trust us to always get the done.
Are professional Dublin carpet cleaning services worth it?
We get asked this question a lot and the answer is unequivocally yes. When a professional carpet cleaner gets finished with your carpets, you will be astounded by the results. It can bring even the dirtiest carpet with the most stubborn carpet stains, back to life and make it look brand new again.
However not every company is able to deliver these kinds of results. It requires the very best commercial grade carpet cleaning equipment and technicians, with both experience and training, to get perfect results.
Thankfully Emerald Carpet Cleaning Dublin, widely regarded as the market leaders for cleaning services, have all of the ingredients required to give all of our residential and commercial carpet cleaning clients carpets, upholstery and rugs that look like new again.
Our carpet cleaning company has been in operation for over 25 years. In that time we have gone up against many of the other top professional cleaning companies such as Doctor Carpet, Cleaning Doctor, Aqua Dry and still come out on top.
What is the most effective carpet cleaning method?
There are many ways to clean a carpet. Many homeowners incorrectly believe that shampooing carpets is the best method of cleaning. The cheap machines you can rent or buy in hardware stores are usually shampoo machines. However they are largely useless especially for dust mite elimination.
They use special detergents that are applied to the carpet with plenty of water. The machine uses bristles that continuously rotate and scrub the carpet to remove dirt and stains. Unfortunately it’s not particularly effective and can take a very long time to dry. It also has the added side effect of often leaving behind a sticky residue which makes the carpet get dirtier even faster than before. A very bad result.
A second method that is not very popular is carpet dry cleaning. Powdered detergents are applied with just a small amount of water. This requires a special machine to then suck the powder and debris from the fibres. The chemicals used are quite pungent and can be toxic. This is only ever really used in offices and other commercial buildings where the utmost priority is that the carpet can be walked on immediately after. We don’t recommend this type of rug and upholstery cleaning.
The very best way to clean carpets and upholstery is to use a steam cleaning machine also known as hot water extraction. This method will remove well over 99% of dirt, allergens, dander and dust mites from any material, drastically improving air quality in your home. We would highly recommend this cleaning solution for 100% satisfaction.
Using this method, high pressure heated water is applied to the carpet. It penetrates deep and works to effectively free up dirt, debris and other stubborn mud and dander. It’s excellent for anyone who might have allergies as this method quickly and easily removes pollen, dust mite eggs, mildew and mold. It’s also beneficial for people who may be sensitive to particular cleaning solutions. These characteristics make it excellent method for mattress cleaning and upholstery cleaning.
This method also has four other major benefits. Firstly it removes stubborn odours from deep within the fibres instead of just masking the smell with shampoo. Secondly, it dries quickly which also prevents any new odours forming. Thirdly, it’s a very fast process meaning the disruption of your life is extremely minimal. Last but not least, hot water extraction will make the fibres of your carpet become fluffier making it feel better to walk on and also look like new again. It can remove almost any stain in your house.
In extreme cases we will use a specially formulated foaming cleanser. This foam sits on the carpet and as it bubbles and expands it causes even the very most tough dirt to be freed from your carpet or upholstery. We use steam extraction to remove the foam so that your carpets dry very quickly.
How often should carpet be professionally cleaned?
This is largely a personal preference. We have many clients who get their carpets cleaned every 3-6 months as they have homes or offices prone to carpet stains. This can be for many reasons. Sometimes they value cleanliness or have allergies that they want to keep under control. Smokers also typically wish to hire a carpet cleaning service more often. If you have children in the home then you can imagine that this will require more regular service. And the very same thing applies with pets. Cats and dog s are every bit a part of the family, but they also are prone to little accidents when they are young or very old. Pet hair and dander also easily gets trapped within the fibres of a carpet and can contribute to allergic reactions.
However the standard advice from your standard carpet cleaning company is do it every 12 months. This works best for most homes and families at keeping dirt, stains, odours, mould and mildew at bay.
Do professional carpet cleaners vacuum first?
Some low class carpet cleaning professionals do not vacuum first. This is often due to laziness or poor training. They believe that the machines will do the work of sucking up the heaviest dust.
This is a huge mistake however and at Emerald Carpet Cleaning Dublin our technicians always take the time and put in the effort to thoroughly vacuum every square inch of your carpet, rug or upholstery.
If you are in search of the greatest carpet cleaning Dublin has to offer then this is essential for the very best results. We use commercial grade vacuum cleaners for even better dirt removal in our carpet and sofa cleaning services. The reason vacuuming first is important, is because it fluffs the fibres which allows steam to more easily get deep into your carpet or rug. It also serves to loosen and dislodge dander and debris. Another important consideration is that it means less water tank refills saving time and cost for you the customer. Finally it allows our carpet cleaner technician to remove small bits of debris from the ground like elastic bands, hair ties, small bits of plastic or small toys, which again would greatly slow down the process incurring more costs.
What do I need to do to prepare my home for a carpet cleaning in Dublin?
For best results you should de-clutter as much as possible before our cleaning service techs arrive. This means taking items off the floor such as toys, clothes, shoes etc.
You should also move furniture out of the rooms that you are having your carpets cleaned in. Our techs will clean around furniture that is left in place.
For added safety its recommended to temporarily remove items like picture, frames, antiques, vases or any other items that might be knocked over easily and that are valuable or breakable.
Before we begin your service we carry out a thorough inspection to identify any potential trouble areas. This is a great time for you to point out any specific issues such as stains or odours and to explain what caused them. This will help our technician to use the correct detergent or cleaning solution and will maximise the results you get.
How long does it take the carpet to dry?
Hot water extraction uses extremely powerful suction to suck the water from your carpet or rug. This means that afterwards it will only be slightly damp to the touch. But it can take anywhere from 5-10 hours for it to dry completely. The exact length of time will depend on a number of factors. These include the level of humidity, the temperature of the room and the level of air circulation you have.
In colder weather you should turn up the heat to reduce drying times. Any types of fan or dehumidifier will also help. Another smart idea is to open some windows and doors to keep fresh air circulating through your home.
How soon can I walk on my carpet?
If your carpet is still damp then it is okay to walk on them provided its only in your bare feet or with socks on. You must wait for your rug or carpet to dry fully before stepping onto it wearing shoes. It’s also unwise to allow pets onto your damp carpet or upholstery.
Can pet odours be eliminated from my carpet or rug?
We are of the carpet cleaning services that are extremely adept at removing light to medium pet odours and stains from pet accidents. However in some circumstances the damage can be too severe even for a specialist cleaning service like us.
This happens in cases where the urine or soiling has been left to sit and has soaked deep into the sub-flooring or padding of your carpet or rug. Or where your pet has urinated in the same area continuously.
In this case there is nothing any carpet or rug cleaning service can really do for you to remove the odour. You will need to either replace your carpet or avail of a carpet padding replacement service.

How Do I Find a Good Carpet Cleaners Service in Dublin?
There are a number of key things to look for when judging whether to hire a carpet cleaning company. We have listed the most important things to look out for below:
Full Insurance Cover
It’s vitally important that your carpet cleaning company has the proper insurance. They need public liability insurance and employer’s liability insurance. This will give you the peace of mind you need. If something gets damaged in your home, you will be reimbursed fully. And if the worst happens and a carpet cleaner gets injured in your home or office, you won’t be on the hook for any medical bills!
Highly Experienced
Carpet cleaning is not easy at all. There is a lot to learn. You need to use the right equipment and detergents in the right amounts on the right fabrics. If you get it wrong your carpeting, rugs or upholstery could be destroyed. This can happen for example, if you use too much water or steam that is to hot. Both common problems with inexperienced staff.
Transparent Pricing
Some rogue operators like to use hidden charges and spring them on your right at the end of your carpet cleaning. Or worse they’ll quote you a low price on the phone and then invent excuses why they need to increase the cost. This is disgusting and we at Emerald Carpet Cleaning Dublin will never do this. We always give our quote upfront and never change it no matter what!
Trusted and Vetted
We can offer references and phone numbers of previous clients who you can call and find out for yourself how good our service is. Also be sure to check out our large number of reviews on Google, Facebook and of course on our website.
Guaranteed Satisfaction
Make sure that whomever you hire to clean your carpet or rugs offers a strong money back guarantee on their services. If they aren’t willing to stand by their work and make their clients happy, this is a red flag. Our guarantee is iron-clad, we will return and fix any areas you are unhappy with, at no charge. But if you are still unsatisfied we will give you 100% of your money back, no questions asked. Beat that!
Easy Booking and Scheduling
With our website you can get a quote, pick a day and time that suits you and pay securely all from the comfort of your phone, laptop or desktop computer using our secure online platform. Simple.
The Difference Between Amateurs And Professional Dublin Carpet Cleaning
If you don’t feel a sense of professionalism with the carpet cleaning company you have contacted, then walk away. Here is quick list of the biggest red flags of an unprofessional cleaning company:
Slow Communication
If a company doesn’t answer its phones, live chats or takes ages to reply to emails, this is a red flag. They obviously don’t care about your business! Avoiding these types is something we would highly recommend.
Poor Phone Manner
Are the operators abrupt and impolite on the phone? Do they seem annoyed that you called? This is another sign to get out and call a proper carpet cleaner.
Fixed Address
Does the service advertise their office address prominently on their website or is it hidden? Is the address an office or someone’s home? If its a residential address that could be a bad sign of an amateur company with little experience.
Hidden Costs
Are there small little hidden fees that they aren’t upfront about? Or do you feel like you are being nickel and dimed? Then put down the phone and call a trusted and reliable carpet cleaning service like Emerald Carpet Cleaning Dublin.
Ask to See Proof of Insurance
Every company will tell you they have insurance but many don’t actually bother getting it. Ask to see proof of their policy and what it covers. We will email our full insurance details including policy number so you can verify its authenticate independently.
Make Sure to Look at Reviews and Speak With Other Clients
We know that there are huge amount of fake reviews out there today. So to combat this we have spoken with many of our past customers and they’ve agreed to be contacted by you! So if you wish to speak with anyone whose carpets we have cleaned in the past, then call or email us today and we will give you your their contact details. You can see for yourself how fantastic our rug, carpet and upholstery cleaning really is and how we take care of our clients and give them 100% satisfaction on every job.
So what are you waiting for if you want the highest grade carpet cleaning Dublin has to offer you then call us today! You’ll be glad you used our cleaning services.
Top 10 Best Restaurants in Dublin, Ireland
1) Mulberry Garden
You might be surprised to see this restaurant on the list. It isn’t very well known but it’s top class. It’s located in Donnybrook in Dublin 4. A unique feature is that everything is sourced from Ireland. Not just the food, but even the table clothes, furniture etc. What’s more it’s all delivered at a phenomenal cost. The food changes regularly based on the seasons and what’s available locally. If you are looking to enjoy time in Dublin, this is the very spot to do so.
2) Variety Jones
Unlike most restaurants, the dishes at Variety Jones are made to be big enough to share with a friend. This makes it ideal for a date night or night out with a close friend. Overall the decor and interior is simple but the food more than makes up for it. There is a very wide range of meals available including many amazing pasta dishes. A must-try spot in Dublin.
3) Bastible
Bastible, located in Dublin 8, brands itself as a modern twist on a bistro. If you’ve ever tried to eat here you’ll know it’s outrageously difficult to even get a reservation. The menu constantly changes depending on the what ingredients are available. Everything is sourced locally and from small, artisanal vendors. Their team is always adding creative touches and unique twists on old classics, adding to the excitement of eating here.
4) Two Boys Brew
At Emerald Carpet Cleaning Dublin, we feel that brunch has gone out of fashion. However Two Boys Brew in Phibsborough is trying to bring it back. There is something to suit everyone here, whether you like watching people go by the busy streets, sharing a long bench with others or sitting tucked away on your own. Not only is the food here excellent, but their coffee is to die for. Some of the very best in the city in our opinion.
5) Forest Avenue
To find this gem you’ll need to head to Sussex Terrace which is located in Dublin 4. Everything about this spot tells you its a high class joint. The service is top notch, the prices are what we’d consider reasonable, the meals are all extremely well put together and presented and of course a huge amount of effort has gone into the decor. There is clear love put into every facet of his restaurant which might be because the owners are a husband and wife combo.
6) Shelbourne Social
We love this restaurant because it isn’t pretentious in any way. In fact by reading the menu you might forget that you were even in one of the top spots in Dublin. It’s trimmed down and the focus is on a few very select dishes, but they are made with amazing care and attention to detail. A unique aspect of The Shelbourne Social, is a bar upstairs that you can move up to after eating your meal. The bartenders might be some of the best in the city and put as much care and love into the cocktails as the chefs do in the restaurant downstairs.
7) Meet Me In The Morning
Okay so this isn’t a restaurant per se, it’s a coffee shop. But the brunch specials served here are excellent. As you’d expect there are plenty of wonderful desserts on offer too. The coffee is top notch but the location is really key here. It’s located in the pretty are just off Camden Street. If you are hungrier for something more substantial then they do serve full meals as well that are as good as you’d expect and are also cooked using local ingredients.
8) The Fumbally
If you consider yourself to be a food-lover at all then you have to know (and love) The Fumbally. It’s become an institution in Dublin for food lovers, in the same vein that Copper Face Jacks is an institution for revelers. Again this isn’t a full blow restaurant but don’t let that deter you. This cafe’s atmosphere is second to none and full of young, artistic types. It’s always packed so make sure you arrive early. Lots of great salads are available, with substantial lunch items as well as excellent coffees.
9) Delahunt
Back to restaurants now for Delahunt. It’s been around for a while and we suspect it will be a fan favourite for many years to come as well. It’s doesn’t pretend to be something that it’s not and does exactly what it says on the tin. Authentic Irish cuisine at its very finest. As you’d expect the service is excellent and it goes without saying that there is nothing on the menu that doesn’t taste fantastic.
10) Uno Mas
Uno Mas only recently opened but it’s been busy almost every night since. It’s difficult to get a reservation, even now. Every single details has been taking into account. The presentation of each meal is impeccable. The service is out of this world and of course the food lives up to all the hype.
